Greetings,

I joined this list several days ago, but unless something slipped by me I
have not seen any activity. Therefore I thought I might introduce myself to
the other list subscribers (of whom there are 45 according to the autox
Web site).

I have a run-of-the-mill '74 2500M (3096TM) with 62k miles on it and badly in
need of a new paint job. My father bought it new in Cleveland. It sat in my
mother's barn for 10 years after he died. I brought it to California four
years ago. I smogged it at the time with no problem and with nothing but new
tires had a blast driving it across the coastal range to Napa valley, etc.
When it came up for smog again it failed. It is five months too young to
qualify for the 25 year exemption. Thus for the past year and a half it has
sat in my garage, during which time I replaced or worked on practically
everything I could see on the engine. Finding a place to try to smog it now
is a problem. Most places tell me it is not in their computer and the DMV
even accused me of having a grey market car. I know I could take it to
a referee station, but I would like to see a pre-test first.

Last year I got a ride on a Griffith 500 in Windsor, England, from a fellow
I met on the domino TVR list. Acceleration to take one's breath away. Why
can't we get cars like that here?

Looking for life out there,

Richard
