Subject: [TR] TR3 U-Joints
I think my 1960's TR3A U-joints are going out. It has been decades since=20
I've even thought about them and right now my TR is my only=20
transportation so I need it fixed soonest if not sooner.
Question are the U-joints common off the shelf parts or something that=20
needs to be ordered from a TR specialty supplier? Is this something I=20
need to order or can a shop get it from a local auto parts house?=20
Replacing them is no longer something I can do myself.
TeriAnn
Parts wear out over time and use but it is not fair to have both cars go=20
out at the same time

For stuff like this I go to Rock Auto and get manufacturers parts numbers
from there you can see what else they fit.=C2=A0 As I recall Triumph used t=
he
same U joint through the TR6, and looking on Rock Auto numbers the Moog 344
was fit to a lot of more modern cars including some Volvos, so fighting
chance you local parts house will have it even if their computer doesn't
spit much out if you put "Triumph TR3" in the search field.
The response I get when I tell them I have a Triumph TR250 is usually "who
makes that?".=C2=A0 But still not as confusing as when I had a BMW 2002 "wh=
at
kind of 2002 BMW do you have sir?"

Sorry, read your question better, a good shop that works on older cars
should have no trouble finding them.
