Dave, honestly, I don't have that problem with Facebook. I restrict my
advertising choices in the app and use a desktop add-on called
Facebook Purity that allows me to eliminate most all of the crap FB
throws into my feed. (https://www.fbpurity.com/) . I don't use FB on
my phone because I find the phone version cluttered and restrictive
and because FBPurity does not have a phone version. I also use AdBlock
and Ghostery in the Duck Duck Go browser for more personal web
security and privacy. While I don't use Windows as an operating system
because of security concerns (I use Mageia Linux), but if you use it,
Microsoft collects massive telemetry from you. I'd suggest using
Win11Debloat (https://github.com/Raphire/Win11Debloat) -- there's a
Windows 10 version as well -- to address any security/privacy concerns
you may have. You'll always leak a little data anywhere you go on the
WWW, I just try to leak as little as possible. As well, I see a wide
range of political posts on FB, but I do occasionally see proven
disinformation debunked, but I can still click on it and see it if I
want.
