Agreed, but would add using a spray bottle with 2 =E2=80=93 5 drops of =
dishwash soap added to the water in the bottle. Moisten the surface =
before application so the decal can be positioned correctly before =
squeegeeing out any air bubbles. Soak the decal in this same solution to =
slide the decal off the backing.

I remember that in my youth I built several plastic models that included =
decals that were water-activated.  I know I have applied these decals to =
my TR6 escutcheons but I forget exactly what I did but it is likely that =
I used the same technique. Dip it in water and apply to the surface and =
let it dry.
