Alright, here's a question for the archivists...
Am about to get my 'Longdoor' TR2 painted, and need advice about under
the bonnet (hood in USA)
Where the front guards/fenders are bolted onto the inner guards from the
scuttle/firewall forward to the front apron, the heads of the bolts (6
each side) and washer underneath are visible. Anyone know for sure if
they were just painted in the body colour along with everything else, or
unpainted & cadmium plated?
I assume they were painted, and imagine that once the car is running
again & I have done a few miles and everything has settled I will need
to go round all those bolts and check if they need tightening again. If
I do need to tighten them then I will probably damage the paint on the
hex sides of the bolts unless there is some trick way to protect them
when I put the socket onto them?
All thoughts / suggestions gratefully accepted.

about to get my 'Longdoor' TR2 painted, and need advice
about under the bonnet (hood in USA)<o:p></o:p></span></p>

the front guards/fenders are bolted onto the inner
guards from the scuttle/firewall forward to the front apron, the heads
of the bolts
(6 each side) <span style=""> </span>and washer underneath are
visible. Anyone know for sure if they were just painted in the body
colour along
with everything else, or unpainted & cadmium plated? <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">I
assume they were painted, and imagine that once the car is
running again & I have done a few miles and everything has settled <span
style=""> </span>I will need to go round all those bolts and
check if they need tightening again. If I do need to tighten them then
I will
probably damage the paint on the hex sides of the bolts unless there is
some
trick way to protect them when I put the socket onto them?<o:p></o:p></span></p>

I bought fuel twice yesterday travelling between states and paid
?0.80/L ($3.999/US gal) in Ohio. And breathed a sigh of relief
that I did a driving trip from Missouri to California and back --
4700 miles -- in January! California is headed the UK's way on
pricing faster than the US midwest.

I?ve been using a friends Spitfire for the last ten days and
today decided to top off the tank, even though it was still
half full. Toured around the local gas stations to find out
where the cheapest fuel might be available. To compare like
with like and remembering one US gallon is effectively 3.8
litres (gas is only sold by the litre in the U.K.) the
cheapest was one US gallon cost USD 8.77. Just after lunch I
passed the same gas station where the price I paid this
morning had risen from 8.77 to 9..12. Diesel was even more!
Thankfully, a pint of my favourite beer hasn?t changed - yet.
