That's sure Classic...Sock Hop...Stuff...

And 'Summertime immediately makes me think of Short Shorts (yeah, sure, but
also the recording)...

Did you know that Bill Dalton, who was VSCDA's Chief of Tech for years and
years, was one of the 'original Jersey Boys'. He was the guitarist in the
Royal Teens, who's biggest hit was Short Shorts, followed later by a Doo Wop
version of Believe.. The Royal Teens' keyboardist, was Bobbie Gaudio, who went
on to join Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. At barely sixteen years of age,
Bill Dalton had an incredible early 1950s Rock and Roll history touring the
country with some of the earliest Rock and Rolls stars. He also appeared in at
least two movies, playing with the band. He wrote a series of articles about
that period in his life which ran in VSCDA's newsletter. That made great
reading for those of us who were teens in the 1950s..

Dalton was a close friend, and spent a great deal of effort trying to convey a
rough, tough 'Joisey image'. But down deep he was an old softie. I recall one
time he took out his wallet to get something to show Bob Wismer and I, and a
whole bunch of Holy Cards fell out. That was no Big Deal for us, as we had
suspected as much all along. He had a collection of guitars, including a
precious (to him) Chet Atkins Gibson, and a state of the art recording studio
in his home. He died suddenly (heart attack) and far too early. Even at the
end of his life he was still providing new 'guitar riffs' to folks active in
the industry.

Oldie but goodie. Most of us are old enough to remember this song.

What are you all talking about? It is going to be 101 here today and the
humidity is 96% this morning. I?m coming to enjoy the cool weather? I have a
cool suit and cooler for the Beandito Endurance car and I?m leaving it at
 home.

All kidding aside, it?s hot down here. Sunday I drove the car around the
neighborhood to bed in new brake pads and generated 210 degrees on the temp
gauge. It was 102 out and I have to go slow and quiet to avoid ?Nextdoor?
comments. It has me a little worried but I left it running in the shop for a
while and it didn?t overheat. Temps in the 80?s are my friend!

I?m leaving later today and if all goes well the Texas car will be there
mid day Thursday. Save me a nice spot!

A nice trick is to stuff ice cubes into a couple of quart size ZIP LOC
bags, and place them under your driver?s suit, one on each side at waist
level.

?My big concern is overheating both for my car and me. The heat plus
humidity will have you sweating just standing still. Make sure to stay
hydrated.

Looks like Friday is the only iffy day, but this has shifted from two
days ago and may shift again.

Overall looks pretty darned good - cooling off a bit too!

I just looked at the forecast for the end of the week for PIR and
Pittsburg area. They are indicating T-Storms mid week through Friday.
Looking decent for the weekend. The Thursday and Friday test and
practice days look wet.

What is the outlook for the weekend, given locale knowledge, of the East
Coast weather at the track this coming weekend?

I had a message that Kas was on the road in Colorado. I am flying in on
Thursday. Everyone have a safe drive.
