Jack:

Thanks for the note. It turns out that the choke cable from TRF is the =
type that you need twist 45 degrees to the right to get it to lock. I =
may have ordered an early cable by accident or maybe that is the one TRF =
sells for all TR6. In any event, I like the pull and twist to lock =
mechanism better than the old one I had for late model TR6. As you =
stated, on that one you just pulled out and it locked where you pulled. =

If you have return springs on your choke assemblies, you have carbs =
earlier than 75 or you have return springs installed on later carbs that =
did not originally have them. If you have the "correct" choke cable for =
a 75, it will have solid wire cables and will not lock in place by =
rotating the knob (as the earlier more flexible braided wire cables did) =
and they will not hold open the chokes that have return springs.

The later solid wire choke cables appear on later TR6s which did not =
have chokes with return springs. Is this the problem you are fighting? =
If so, you either need the earlier choke cable or you can remove the =
springs from the chokes - but the earlier chokes with return springs are =
not otherwise completely identical to later chokes and they won't work =
perfectly without the springs.

I am replacing my choke cable on my 75 TR6 with a brand new one from =
TRF. It has been a while since I changed one, so please forgive the =
simple question. I have the cables attached to both carbs securely. =
When I pull out the choke via the choke knob, the cables will not stay =
engaged with chokes open. The springs on the carb choke assemblies pull =
it right back to off position. I have tried this installed in dash and =
now not installed in the dash (hanging below free). Both times the =
choke will not stay on. I thought the original choke cable had two =
holes that engaged the choke open at two positions. There are two holes =
on the metal assembly. What am I missing here. =20

Thanks so much,
