The '76 TR6 convertible top should have a stamped plate (Moss calls it "a r=
ear retainer bar") at its back edge with 5 holes in it that bolts to 5 nut =
plates in the raised edge of the rear deck. (The 2nd and 4th of these nut =
plates are used to secure the rear edge of the hardtop.) My car was built i=
n July 1976 and I am the original owner.=20
=20
In 2012 I replaced my original convertible top with a black Sunfast top. Pe=
rsonally=2C I like it somewhat better than the original factory roof=2C bec=
ause the blacker Sunfast top looks better on my light colored car. The Sunf=
ast fabric can pick up lint=2C so keep a lint roller handy.=20
=20
The main complaint I have with both the original top and the Sunfast is tha=
t the tops attach to the velcro on the folding side rails for only about 2 =
years before the width of the top "shrinks" and becomes too narrow to even =
reach those side rails. Attaching to the side rails makes a huge difference=
in wind noise and keeping the weather out. I was hoping the "canvas" of th=
e Sunfast would have been superior to the original vinyl in this respect=2C=
 but it wasn't.
