Very informative drawings. Pretty neat.
The lighter of the factory flywheels, weigh 29 lbs. with ring gear. The heavier
unit weighs 34 lbs.
With the availability of new light flywheels, I wouldn't consider lightening a
stock unit.
Both steel and aluminum flywheels are available new. BPNorthwest has them. Both
weigh less than 10lbs. without the ring gear. Bolt on ring gear is extra.
Summit might have a better price on the aluminum Fidanza. Fidanza is probably
supplying BPN.
The steel flywheels are drilled for TR4A-TR6 pressure plate, but don't let that
stop you from making this change. The later diaphragm pressure plate is also
lighter and improved. The aluminum units are drilled for both TR3s and the
later 4A-6 pressure plates. Other considerations...aluminum flywheels have a
replaceable friction surface and steel units should to be resurfaced when
changing the clutch disc. I would recommend balancing new flywheels. The
pressure plate too. Balancing isn't really necessary for a street car, but it
wouldn't hurt.
The lighter the smoother the better.

Here's what I have. The Kastner books I checked don't give details for
lightening.
You might try talking to Joe Alexander. ISTR he said he had a shop that knew
how to remove 7 lb or so. He did a run of lightweight
steel flywheels made, but I think they're all gone and I've not heard that he
plans to get more made.
Of course, there's always the alloy Fidanza, available through Summit and
others. I've been very happy with mine, but there are
some concerns so that may be more than you want for your Morgan. The racers
seem to have a hard time keeping them on the crank, but
that hasn't been an issue for me on the street. I still had to heat it up with
a torch to get it off the old 3A motor, after
roughly 50K miles. (The instructions note that it is a light press fit onto the
crankshaft and suggest using heat to remove it.)
