Dave, the only detail I can find is for an HMV radio (this was the version
made by Smiths Radiomobile) for the period and it's called the 400T. Dad had
one as a factory fit in his 1959 Standard Vanguard. In common with the period,
we were coming to the end of two unit installations (tuner unit and valve
pack). Note the 400T is a Medium and Longwave AM type that would have been
used in UK and Europe. The Medium wave only set would have had another type
number (which I can't find) while the Medium/Short wave set would have been
different again. 400T units come up for sale periodically on the UK branch of
Ebay.
