In general, no. Most chargers will taper off the charge current as the
battery nears full charge, so it won't hurt anything to "recharge" a battery
that is already fully charged. Mine even has a ammeter on it that gives a
rough indication of battery charge (starts near 10 amps for a discharged
battery and tapers off towards 1-2 amps for a fully charged battery).
The exception would be one of the old fashioned "fast chargers", which will
generally have a timer and instructions on how to set the timer, depending
on the battery state of charge.
