The one on the left appears to be an original TR2-3 extension; the one on
the right looks like a TR4 unit to me.  They are often fitted to the earlier
cars when fitting one of the more aggressive (thicker) plastic fans from
later TRs.  Should be nowhere close to the cross brace; if it does hit the
steering link then add a couple of shims to the motor mounts (or turn down
the diameter of the extension).
