There must be some mistake in those numbers, Bob.
Has be some clearance between the crank and the seal, at least as much as
the main bearing clearance, otherwise the seal is going to start supporting
the crank (which would be a Bad Thing).
2.818" would give .003" radial clearance, which sounds right to me.
