A Special Airworthiness Certificate issued for operation in the Experimental Categorycomes with Operating Limitations, one of which is: "No person may operate this aircraft for carryng persons or property for compensation or hire." So the EAA is giving a free ride to someone who donates. Sort of like the free tote bag you get when you donate to the local PBS station.
