I hadn't run my engine in almost a year. I figure I ought to change the oil
prior to cranking it...right? (Who knows- water might have got into the
system during that amount of time!!) However, after checking the dipstick,
it only shows a clear 30 weight. I've changed the break-in oil several times
already during the brief stationary break-in last year.
Once, I thought I had read of someone breaking a motor in with non-detergent
oil. Also, I suppose using a good SAE 30 weight oil for break-in is much
more important, even if it has to be a different brand name from what will
eventually be used. Any comments?
I will refill with SAE 30 until i'm ready for 20w-50.
Thanks, Paul
