[TR] transmission cover on top?

Still learning how and if my  car will all go back together again.  The new
tires which I put on it at the beginning of the "restoration", have now
started to dry rot, even prior to having seen the asphalt!

Another thing:
Isn't the transmission cover flanges suppose to be 'on top' of the floorpans?
