FYI: Previous owner rebuilt our TR3 in about 1990 with DOT 5. I've owned
it for about 7 years. No problems since, still works great, but it doesn't
get a hugh amount of driving, even less spirited.
I have heard though that you want to handle DOT 5 carefully (not shaken or
stired) and poured slowly using a rod or screwdriver on the lip of the can
so that the fluid flows into the resevoir without creating any bubbles. Any
microscopic bubbles in the fluid will affect brake performance. Bubbles do
not settle out of DOT 5 as readily at DOT 3/4.
