[TR] TR tunnel struggle

Hi all
How difficult should the job of fitting the transmission tunnel be  
(TR2)?. I know the one I have is not the original from the car, but  
it is proving a real battle to get it to sit down. The holes line up  
ok, but when you bolt it to the bulkhead (firewall) the bottom flange  
won't sit on the floor, almost as if it is too short, any tips?
