I had this done to my TR6 when I had the head reworked. My oil consumption
actually dropped. This is probably due to the compression ratio increase which
suggest that my oil consumption is due to worn rings. Was it worth the
trouble? Apparently not in my case. Blowby accounted for much more
consumption
than worn valve guides. Maybe your rings are in much better shape than mine
are

If clearances are in spec why not leave well enough alone? Unless you are
going after bragging rights 1700 to 1800 miles per quart is pretty respectable
in this engine.
