Just a thought, have you double-checked the point gap since the problem started
happening ?

I had a similar problem once on a non-LBC; turned out the root cause was that I
had forgotten to lube the point cam.  The dry cam would erode the rubbing block
away, and the lack of point gap would make it idle poorly.  At higher rpm it
would seem to run OK.
