Jim,
You've probably got as much out of the old trunk seal as you're going to get!
They're not terribly expensive to buy and quick to replace. If you do
replace it and you still have some play or loseness, you can adjust the latch
on
the trunk lid by either moving it front or back or adjusting the threaded hook
which requires removing the latch and replacing it - lots of trial and errors
but it'll work.
