Hey Steve,
I'm sorry to say it sounds like a classic case of broken clutch pin. If
you're getting full movement from the slave cylinder rod & the clutch
will not engage / disengage properly, then the problem must lay inside
the bell housing. Disconnect the slave cylinder and try sliding a pipe
or strong tube over the shaft arm & move it back & forth , feeling for a
skip or looseness. It should have a positive stop fore & aft. If it
stops & then you can apply pressure & feel it give it would be another
sign that the pin is broken/sheared or binding enough to work partially.
We've all been there. Finally put the last nut & bolt in, cleaned up and
look forward to a trouble free driving season. Then something happens
that requires the entire job to be done over again because of a $5.00
part =-O . I went through a summer having to do this job twice & again
the following summer. It's BULLET PROOF NOW !!
Don't waste your time if you have eliminated the obvious. If it's done
right it will never be a problem again.
