But if you never use all the power you already have, why are you looking for
more ? And who says it doesn't "sort of build up" when you close the switch ?
For that matter, if it's that important to you, you could always add a PWM speed
controller for the fan.

Fans are usually pretty good at handling flow, they just don't deliver much
pressure differential. So I wouldn't be surprised if the "2 psi" really is with
the engine taking a few hundred cfm.

Actually, most modern supercharger setups have a bypass valve that eliminates
boost when the throttle isn't wide open. Otherwise, as I said, it wastes energy
(meaning fuel mileage) compressing (and heating) air that just gets throttled
back down by the throttle plates. Accel even offered a similar valve for
turbocharged setups for awhile, although maybe they don't sell it any more.

Maybe some setups do, but most of them are operated by a single pair of
contacts. You either get nitrous (and fuel) or you don't. Otherwise, you get
all tied up with trying to meter various flows of nitrous, and deliver just the
right amount of fuel to go with it.

That's fine, I suppose, if that's what suits you. But again, if you don't use
the power you have, why are you looking for more ?

Sorry if I'm being argumentative. I agree, it's no substitute for a "real"
blower. But 2 psi should be good for another 10-12% power, which I wouldn't
call a "gimmick". Probably more "real" power than most other "bolt-on" go-fast
goodies.
