Subject: [TR] master cylinder housing
When reinstalling the housing box for the master cylinders, does
anyone put
something between it and the sheet metal of the bulkhead, ...or just
bolt the
thing down. Would a bead of caulking help keep the cockpit a bit dryer?
Hello, Terry, I did this twice last year on my '59; the first time
because of a leak, and neither time did I put anything
between the "cage" and the bulkhead. Don't know how things could be
drier w/ caulk.
BTW, for my second install, I put both cylinders in the cage, and
tightened the existing brake/clutch lines, and then
put the whole assembly back in the car. This way I got much better
leverage on tightening the lines.
Before, I had to use stubby wrenches, in tight quarters, hence the
leaks. It's a bit more involved snaking the
cage w/ the attached cylinders, (and the resevoir), but made for a
leak free experience for me.... Have fun!
Best, Kevin Browne
