I had seen the TR6+6 project where a TR6 was widened by 6" and had thought
about doing the same to a TR3 (as well as lengthening it by 6" per the LeMans
TR3S). However, I would cut the car roughly in thirds because the body
countours would seem to take widening better at that point.
I notice he used the small-mouth apron. I had figured on that as well since
the wide-mouth gets, well, too wide.
Notice the buck he used to align the front apron panels in 34front.jpg.
I also like his idea of using two bonnets and boots to make one wide one; the
support structure is problematic.
For a lengthened TR3, I suspect that fiberglass or aluminum would be the way
to go for the bonnet and inner/outer fenders. Of course, if I win the Lotto,
I could have that bloke in England who does the bespoke aluminum TR3 bodies
whip up a special one for me -- and then he could retire. 8)
I wonder what this fellow's plans are for a windshield?
