OK ... answers, yes other low beam works, no I did not leave
power on checking resistance ...
However I liked the parallel universe theory, so I did some more
checking ... found a bad crimp on one connector, then I noticed
that the connector (bare) was close to ground ...
:-[, so I 'fiddled' with the New light harness and low beam
came on ... Now here is the parallel universe theory ... the
low beam connector was periodically shorting to ground, can't
imagine why, the TR3 rides so smooth and there is little or no
vibration ;-), this causes the wire in the harness to heat up,
maybe even melts a few strands, eventually there is not enough
wire to carry the current required to light the low beam, but
enough strands to register "good" on the VOM ... whew !!!
Another new light harness (had a spare) and all is well ...
