The inline 6 pushrod engine of the TR-6 is a very traditional format
that seems to have been made by many manufacturers. Did any other firm
ever make an alloy head that was compatible with the TR-6s block?
Just speculating about the weight savings. I recall reading about the
Austin guys down under who made their own casting moulds for an alloy
engine.
Obviously if one was serious about power/weight it would be simpler just
to stuff in an alloy V-8 and be done with it. However, considering that
many LBCs seem to have people making new heads for them, I wonder if a
light TR head will ever be available.
