Camden still retains its armpit status in many areas. However, the State
and county have been throwing $100s of millions (literally) at the area, and
there are now upscale apartments in the old RCA Victor (the Nipper) building
on the water, the afore-mentioned aquarium, etc. The surrounding suburbs
are affluent, condos and townhouses in eyesight across the Delaware are
selling for at least $500,000. Think Baltimore harbor in the early 1970s.
That was a pit too.
Not the best place for a race though. You'll have to keep a good eye on all
your pit gear.
