+AD4- I am reaching the final stages of a complete restoration of my
+AD4- TR6 which included a new wiring harness. Everything seems to be
+AD4- working OK except the backup lights which are always on when the
+AD4- key is turned to the second position and even if the wires from
+AD4- the switch on the transmission are disconnected. Must be
+AD4- something simple but when it comes to electrics I struggle. Any
+AD4- input would be truly appreciated.

According to Dan's schematic, you should have a green/black wire at one backup
light, with a black/green to the other light. The two wires at the
transmission switch should be green, and green/black. Does that match what you
see ?

If so, get out your test lamp or voltmeter, and start trying to figure out
where the green/black wire is getting power from when it's disconnected from
the transmission switch. Dan's drawing shows several connectors (although I
don't know where they are), so I'd start by finding each one of them. (One of
them should be the multi-pin connector near the floor in the driver's side
footwell.) Visually check the wires at the connector, and then pull it apart
and look to see if the lights are still on.
