Don't know about the Borg/Warner, but I put a Ford AOD automatic
transmission
in my TR3. Definitely required a larger trans tunnel and widening of
the
frame x-member. There is still ample footwell room, however. It was a
pain
to make it fit, but well worth it when idling at 0-2 mph on the bumper
to
bumper Los Angeles freeways.

I'm not familiar with that gearbox. I do remember the "Select-Shift
Cruise-o-Matic" in mom's old '68 Ford Country Squire in which I learned
to drive. Always liked that gearbox for the ability to put it in "2"
and have it start from rest in second gear rather than progress through
the 1-2 sequence like most other three-speed autoboxes of the era.

*Mrs Irrelevant: Oh, is it a jet?
*Man: Well, no ... It's not so much of a jet, it's more your, er,
Triumph Herald engine with wings.
