I wanted to thank Jerry and everyone else who responded. While I've not tested the theory, I am fairly confident that my temporary removal of the shroud was/is the culprit. Who would have thought that such a small detail could have made such a difference? Especially with a 16" fan... I also erred in my original post and said that I had the fan installed as a pusher, but it's actually a puller. I guess that means I'm not ready for Jekyll Island this weekend.
