Hi Drew:

Isn't "once a second" the frequency of the voltage stabiliser contacts
opening? Any connection?

Subject: The ongoing saga of non-alternators

What a strange trip this has been. I've certainly learned a bunch
about TR4 wiring! Amazing how so few wires can be so frustrating. I'm
going to call a friend I just met in the local British Motor Club for
some help now, since after many attempts, I've still got a charging
problem. At least I think I do. Part of the learning process has been
learning how to tell if I've got it right. Call it gauge theory.

I've had the alternator tested twice at different locations, and both
times it tested fine. I checked all the wiring and connections, and
insured that the wiring (PO put in a new harness) matched the
diagrams. I checked the alternator wiring changes, and got a new
pigtail for the alternator. All the wiring should be fine. It is
still just pulsing about once a second, making the amp gauge jump
positive at a high idle (2500 RPM) while running. Voltage tested at
the alternator is similar.

Now I'm wondering if it is something with the physical installation.
Would a slipping belt be a problem here? I'm a little flummoxed.
