Not all battery charges are regulated. Certainly not the cheap ones. Those
will put out more than 14.6 volts and will overcharge a battery.
But any charger that regulates to 14.6 (or preferably 14.25) or less will not
harm a battery no matter how long it is connected. The best chargers,
however, will charge the battery to 14.25 until the current drops to a certain
level
and then drops back to a float at 13.5 or so. Most wheel chair chargers work
this way - except they operate on 24 volt systems so double the values.
