Randy, the original (and current) block in my '62 TR4 is CT5155E. My
car's commission number is CT5018LO. Close enough that I'd guess your
engine block came from an early TR4. Of course you know the engine
numbers won't tell you much about what's inside now. Here's a page with

Depends on how much the engine costs? If it's claimed rebuilt but
without documentation, the price should reflect the gamble. I bought a
supposedly rebuilt complete TR3 engine for $750 a few years ago.
Advertised through the local Triumph club newsletter. When I pulled the
head last year for my TR4, it was clear the head was indeed fresh and
the bottom end looks great too. Woohoo! In your shoes I'd just do the
usual prep for an engine that's been sitting a while -- then try to
start it up. If the seal is felt it'll expand a little once you leak
some oil, and otherwise it will leak no matter what you do. ;)
