I have been watching this thread with interest, and I tend to
agree with Randall, Casper (1957 TR3) has a puller fan that is
manually operated on hot days, and slow traffic.
However ...
My 2004 Sienna Van 3.5L V6, 260HP, has three (3) pusher fans,
one for the A/C, the others for the rest of the engine, once
up to temp the temp gauge NEVER moves ... hot, slow, stopped, A/C,
mountains you name it that sucker never overheats.
The 1957 TR3 I had when it was new ... yep I am that old ...
never overheated and I raced it stock, in club races in
Memphis ... kinda makes you wonder ...
I believe that Fred T. has the right formula, Redline Water
Wetter, Noroison, 10% anti-freeze, distilled water ... works for
Fred and it seems to work for me.
Just my thoughts ...
