As noted, used housings are pretty cheap and having one would allow you
to decapitate the one with the sensor in it. With a hacksaw or dremel
you should be able to carefully cut the housing around the sensor hole
and spread it enough to free it up.
OTOH, I was able to get mine loose w/o that. Took repeated doses of PB
Blaster over several months and in the end application of heat from a
heat gun.
The main reasons to remove it at all is to get the gauge rebuilt, remove
the gauge to paint/PC the center panel or (in my case) to be able to
move the gauge to the correct location on the panel. To pull the head
or pull the engine the housing, sensor and all can be removed and set aside.
