I would just like to say that I was certainly questioned as to whether my car
was stock or not; and assigned a category based on my answers.

However, I'll add that it would be helpful to have some guidelines available as
to what exactly constitutes a modification. Or at least more readily available,
perhaps they are on the VTR website somewhere, but they didn't seem to be
available at the track.

As a single example, I've replaced the worn out original wire wheels on my Stag
with the nearest equivalent wire wheels I can find. Same diameter, same number
of spokes, same lacing pattern ... but the spokes are stainless steel rather
than chromed steel. Is that a modification ? They are also slightly wider. Is
that a mod ? I don't think any Concours judge would say so, are the AutoX rules
more stringent than Concours ?

What if I were to replace them with the alloy wheels that were available on
later Stags ? I should lose points in concours of course, but again, the line
for AutoX seems unclear. *My* Stag was not available with alloy wheels, but I
ran against cars so equipped, presumably as original.

But in the end, this is supposed to be fun ! If you want nitpicky,
hair-splitting rules, go run with the SCCA. I personally had a blast ! My only
regret is that we couldn't have 3 runs each, or 4, or ... <G>

PS, Thanks, Irv ! Yours is just one of the names I couldn't think of before ...
I can only plead CRS.
