Steve,
Did you pick up some cheese while you were there?
Joe C.
P.S. One of those blimp hangers burned to the ground a few years ago!

Dave,
A few years ago we traveled a similar route on vacation. Our trip
included a
stop in Tillamook, OR (yeah, like the cheese). We decided to tour the
cheese
factory. That was fun, but not a stone's throw from it I spotted the
Tillamook Air Museum. It was constructed at the beginning of WWII as a
dirigible or
"Blimp" hangar. To make a short post of this, something I stumbled on by
accident turned out to be the highlight of a very wonderful trip.
BTW, a little piece of trivia I picked up while there: The US used two
types
of dirigibles in WWII. The A-rigid and the B-limp or, as we know it
"Blimp"
Tillamook is on Hwy 1 due west from Portland.
Have fun!
Steve
