VACUUM UNITS
The critical number is the one representing the behavior of the vacuum unit,
not so much the ten digit part number. Read the LARGER sized numbers with the
periods or dashes inbetween as in X - XX - X or X . XX . X on the neck
near the tube attachment.
These numbers represent; vacuum required to start advancing b maximum
'useable' vacuum b and max degrees of advancement your unit provides.
'Vacuum advance numbers' for your particular motor can be pulled from the
'vacuum advance table' in most Official Workshop Manuals.
TR4A's use 2-6-3
MGB's use 4-10-12
These identical looking vacuum units could easily end up on ANY British car -
if your motor is hard to tune you might want to ID your's.
