I've always wondered if the lack of a bearing in the middle of the layshaft is the cause of transmisison failure on the GT-6 transmission? That's quite a distance without support between the bearings on the ends of the layshaft. In most transmissions the gear cluster is solid and supported on each end by ball bearings.
