I am not sure what the puller tool is. Is it just a screwdriver with a bend
to it so that it will fit properly or even similar to a brake adjust tool?

On my 3A, I find it necessary to use the 'puller' tool to slip in between
the
trim ring and the bulb, to push the tab into it's spring clip. Otherwise
the
tab just bends. If your tab is already bent, you may need to straighten it
a
bit.
