bounced. Hopefully this is of general enough interest that others won't
mind if I answer on the list :
Yeah, I do. Can't say I've done a head-to-head comparison, but that area
definitely wears, and having more area and an occasional shot of grease has
got to help it live longer. Using a later shaft and drilling it for grease
fittings is even better, as the early shaft has a groove that reduces the
bearing surface. But probably not worth the effort, especially since it's
the other end that wears first.
