Mechanical pumps have that great priming lever, deliver the correct
pressure for your carbs and seldom fail in a way that leaves you totally
stranded.
They can easily be rebuilt along the side of the road and a rebuild kit
takes up almost no room. Series land rovers use the same rebuild kit by
the way.
So if Moss is out of kits you can check a land Rover parts house like
British Pacific (good place for Lucas fittings & colour coded wires too)
