Hi Randall
The Dowell bolts are just 3/8 UNF bolts with a plain shank long enough to go
through the back plate of the engine and most of the way through the bell
housing (flywheel housing), the head size is 9/16 AF if this helps, they
should be the first thing you fit and tighten, all the rest will then go in
ok, they often have to be driven in with a hammer so don't expect to use
these to assist in aligning the box during the installation, get the box sat
in the right place then fit the dowel bolts. It sometimes helps to spin a
nut on (finger tight) to one of the studs at the top and pop a bolt through
one of the holes at the bottom and spin a nut on (finger tight) before
trying to fit the dowel bolts. They have plain nuts and spring washers
originally but nyloc nuts will be equally as good.
