Actually, I am NOT positive that the 2 cars (Adrian's and mine) were
originally equipped with NO flash to pass. In my case, the car was heavily
modified 22 years ago and I have not explored the harness to diagnose the
condition and function of any possible flash to pass wires.

In Adrian's case, he scrapped the harness and switch years ago. I suppose
that it was possible that someone retrofitted a TR4 stalk when the original
failed and then lost the flash to pass capability.

The TR4A parts manual only lists 2 switches, one for LHD and one for RHD, so
at least the switch seems to have always been capable of the flash to pass.
Why would they have specified a different switch than the TR4 unless they were
USING the extra function it provided.

My deduction is that ALL TR4A's had some form of flash to pass. There is no
doubt (in my mind) that the late cars only flashed the high beams. I have NO
reports of any TR4A having the flash work on either the highs or lows as
selected by the dip switch (as the wiring diagram would suggest there should
be). OTOH, I have NO reports on any pre-64000 cars at all, yet.

So It is looking to me like the wiring diagram is just WRONG (instead of
incomplete) in how it shows the flash to pass circuit.

Are you sure that the cars reportedly without "flash to pass" really
were wired, switched, or built differently?
Isn't it more likely they maybe had bad bullet connections, frayed
wires, burned out switch contacts, etc, more along typical
Prince-Of-Darkness lines?
I take it from the diagrams and switch parts that all 4s and all 4As had
this in one or other form, and for that matter, all the later TRs as
well although the switching details changed, and of course the wiring.

So, are you SURE that these cars were wired NOT to have flash-to-pass,
or just not working properly??

(BTW I think Adrian's car is a solid axel with CT- not CTC prefix, and
he's also a Brit without the "L" but this could be a "whole nother"
story)
