How full are you filling them, and how far down does it leak ?
The instructions in the early owner's manual have you slightly overfilling
them, I believe this is so the excess will slowly run down the shaft and
lubricate it. The oil eventually finds it's way through the air piston and
into the intake. The later owner's manual was changed, to say only fill
them enough to feel resistance as you reinsert the plunger. This is all
that's needed for correct operation of the damper. (I still overfill mine
every 10,000 miles, to lube the shaft.)
As long as you can feel resistance when you insert the plunger, the oil
level should not make any difference to driveability. Unless of course
you've got it so high that it blocks the upward movement of the piston. In
that case, there is an air vent/overflow that the oil runs out.
