I have been lurking on this list for a while now, and finally wanted to
introduce my self. My name is Pete and I own a 58 TR3. It has been in
the family since 1961. My dad used to drive it to work everyday. (I
live in SoCal). In 1995 when I graduated from college, the little red
TR was my graduation gift. For the last few years I haven't done much
to it, and about a year ago decided to rebuild the engine. My dad
rebuilt it in 1975 when I was just a little lad.
Fast forward 19 years, the motor has been machined and balanced and I
am starting to put it back together. The bottom end is complete but I
have a question about the pistons. They are County 87mm. with no arrow
indicating the front of the motor. Does it matter which way these go in
or does the stamp 040 go towards the front? Thanks in advance.
Pete
