Yes, although it's easier if you have some sort of pump & hose arrangement.

Motorcycle shock oil works fine and is available in several differents
weights (for different levels of damping). Check with a Harley shop for the
heavier weights. I think the original shock oil was about 20 weight (but
I'm not sure about that).
