Dick

I laid the old and new on a builders square and measured
from the center of the arm to the center of the taper pin hole.

        old 6 and 3/4 inches
        new 6 and 5/8 inches

1/8 shorter on the new one hence the tightness.

Tomorrow--Friday,it all goes back together (minus the spring
between the arm and transmission housing)

Gary---Sounds as if the fork pin bore wasn't drilled in the proper spot
in the shaft. If you'll write me it's exact location from each end of
the shaft to the centerline of the pin bore, I can tell you if it's
drilled correctly. (I have two shafts that I know are correct)

I think the spring is supposed to locate the shaft three holed arm in
line with the SC pushrod.
