Hi folks,
Casper took AnnaBelle and I on a dry run to the Horizon
Casino in South Lake Taho today, I can report that it is 115 miles,
and 2.5 hours from Wallace, via Hiways 88 and 89. Had a nice lunch,
but gas will be expensive, cheapest we saw for premium was $2.45 and
most expensive $2.55 (Chevron). Great trip up there, coming home ...
not so good ... started with a grabbing left rear brake drum (great
fun in the fast downhill corners) and then a knocking noise from
the front ... and this is the new engine we are breaking in
... oil pressure great, temp great, engine running strong.
Stopped (of course) looking for loose anything ... nothing, even
pulled the valve cover looking for broken rocker arm. Beyond cell
phone range of anywhere ... so press on regardless, at a very
reduced rate, figured we had to get with in AAA+ range of home.
Eyes glued to oil pressure and temp gauges, but the noise just did
not sound like internal engine, more like a bolt inside the hubcap
... which we ruled out cause of wire wheels.
Finally on a long downhill we heard a thud, clunk, clunk,
bounce, bounce ... clearly something fell off the car, gen light
lights up, temp gauge starts climbing, immediate full stop on a
service road ... the nut holding the generator pulley had come off,
then the pulley. OK ... hello AAA+ I think I will take this
opportunity to convert to an Alternator ... still have to check
out that left rear brake ... probably stuck ... anyway "It Was
An Adventure"

Press on Regardless.
